Dr. Nancy Stewart

Nancy Stewart is a native of Rochester, NY and followed her father and grandfather into the medical profession. She received her M.D. from The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry after graduating cum laude from Boston University with a BA in psychology. Following her 3-year residency in Family Practice at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, she and her husband moved to the Ithaca area to be closer to family and raise their three children. She retired from her family medicine practice in May, 2008 after 23 years. She joined the Integrative Medicine Center group in 2004 and continues to enjoy consulting there in general/integrative medicine.

She has a special interest in nutrition and preventive medicine. She has also been on the teaching faculty at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, Department of Family Medicine since 1984, supervising residents as they see patients in their model office. She maintains her board-certification in Family Medicine, having taken her most recent recertification exam in July, 2008.

Dr. Stewart and her husband, Ray Terepka, continue to enjoy living in Ithaca, with its wonderful people, natural beauty, and wide variety of entertainment and learning opportunities. They hike almost every day with their golden retriever, Bodhi. Dr. Stewart also enjoys her personal practices of Iyengar yoga and mindfulness meditation in the tradition of thich Nhat Hanh.
