Stephen Karl, LCSW-R
Stephen Karl comes to the Integrative Medicine Center after living and working in the Rochester, New York area for over 20 years. His initial training and work experience upon graduation from Rockefeller College School of Social Welfare at the State University of New York Albany, was as a senior therapist for a child and adolescent team mentored and supervised by two child psychiatrists. Programs in the bio psycho social intervention of Attention Deficit Disorder and Psychological Trauma response were designed and implemented while on the team.
Further training in the diagnosing and creation of collaboratively designed treatment of addictions and their impact on families/significant others occurred in several settings.
Currently, Stephen maintains a part time practice with Life Solutions Psychotherapy. His work focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of attention deficit disorder, depression, and anxiety disorders in children and adults. Modalities included in his practice are cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, identification and reduction of psychological defenses, crisis intervention, and substance abuse therapy. These therapies are utilized in the formation of a treatment plan, cooperatively designed with a client to reduce presenting issues and symptoms.
Stephen anticipates adding several insurances to his practice and currently sees patients on a sliding scale. He has a license with New York State as a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) and is "R" credentialed indicating that 6 years of supervised work has been completed.
Stephen looks forward to broadening his treatment perspectives while collaborating with the clinicians at Integrative Medicine Center of Ithaca.
